change dedicated netflix remote button?

Is there anyway to reassign a diffrent app the the netflix button on the remote control?

I dont use netflix and have no plans to!

I would prefer this button load up PLEX or KODI instead.

Is this possible?

Hi there

The remote controls for the TV are NOT programmable, which means you cannot change the Netflix button to do something else. And yes, I agree that it would be help to have this buttom do something other than load an app that some people will use and others wont.

But there is no need for the remote to be programmed... only how the TV should interpet the signals, but I guess that is what you meant.

Anyhow, I would also like to start plex with that button instead of netflix...

does sony have a feedback function? and do they listen to it?

Me too.

I noticed that in Kodi, you can use keymap editor addon to assign the sony remote to do specific things like open subtitles, context menu (right click) etc. BUT, the netflix button cant even be reassigned there, if you click it it opens netflix.

I guess netflix paid sony some big bucks to spam the remote control and GUI.

I contacted the developers for the app in regards to a similar app for the Google Play button - this is their response:

Sorry currently there are no plans to support the Google Play button. This is not because we don’t like to support it. The problem is that we do not have a television that has this Google Play button. So we can’t try if the same mechanism works and test it on a device.

can't uninstall netflix app from tv. Can just disable or close app but this is not enough to switch button.

How I can uninstall netflix?

It's a bundled app - you cannot remove it. If this was a phone then you could root the device and then remove it but I don;t know of anyone rooting the TV yet

For me, the app took care of this. It was the first question after starting
the app. I haven't checked if the app is removed or not but it is working
for me.

The button now starts Kodi in my case but as i remember i could choose from
any installed application.

This not work for my tv. App just send me to unninstal netflix , but can't uninstal just disable Netflix. When disable Netflix nothing is going on. Button not work at all.

Maybe uninstall the app and then reinstall (maybe clean cache before
uninstalling?). Sometimes starting over from scratch does the trick.

hi,

tnx for tips but unfortunatlyu doesn't work. I try reinstall app before and now and clean cash before uninstal, but nothing.

If I not stop or blocking netflix before start app, the app say: please go to next screen and deactivate netflix and then come back, and when I press OK app is crash... and say something :" unfortunatly app is crash please close it...or something like that"

If close netflix and disabe ti before start app, app is doing its work and let me chose which program to choose instead netflix but then is nothing going on. When I press netflix button is nothing, no netflix no some other app ( I try several apps)

I no idea any more...

No idea's here neither. Maybe contact the developer of the app, he might
know what to do.

Hi, I not try factory reset yet.

for now I do not mind so much for Netflix button that make factory reset for that. Someone on the topic wrote that he had problems with the picture quality due to factory reset, so I'm afraid to experiment.

I made soft reset but nothing is change.

HI there

If you write down all your picture settings before a factory reset, then you can simply re-do them afterwards. Ive started creating a spreadsheet with the picture/sound settings etc (which is a work in progress), which can be found HERE - it could save you time
